My husband’s standby takeaway meal is pizza. He loves it, and is a member of several local pizza joints. Me? I like pizza too, but we have differing tastes. He and my son love classic Hawaiian (ham and pineapple) pizzas. I like vegetarian toppings, and more gourmet pizza flavours. But there’s one thing we agree on – the PIZZA BASE.

Pizza bases can’t be too thick, or paper thin. Pizza bases need to have a bit of body to hold the sauce and the delicious ingredients. “But I can buy a pre-made pizza base from the local supermarket” I hear you say. This is true, but this pizza base recipe doesn’t taste like cardboard, is much cheaper and you can get the kids involved!

Sweet, moist almond filling and ripe pears make this tart absolutely delectable.

I needed to make a dessert while Mr 2.5 & Mr .5 were having their afternoon nap, and wanted to make a tart…. Can it be done in 1 hour?

Of Course! Obviously this can only be done with a few shortcuts, but when you have kids around, shortcuts are a necessity. If I had extra time I would have made my own shortcrust pastry, but with a toddler and a baby in the house it’s not always possible, so puff pastry came to the rescue. This is one of my favourite desserts. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Damper is an Australian bread that is typically baked in a campfire. It is quick and easy to prepare, and is delicious served with a casserole, soup or on its own with butter and golden syrup.

I decided to whip up a damper with Mr 2.5 today. He had lots of fun rubbing the butter into the flour. My basil is really looking great in my vege garden, so I decided to use it and make a basil and cheese damper to serve with our dinner.

This recipe has been passed down from my Great Grandmother to my Grandpa, to my Mum and to me. I hold fond memories of it in my heart.  It’s important to keep these recipes being passed down through the generations – they are part of my family and who I am.

This sponge cake is feather-light and is beautiful in its simplicity. My Mum usually made this for our birthday cakes whilst we were growing up, and I know why. It’s a celebration cake!

So when my youngest son turned 6months old recently this was the cake recipe I turned to.
