Timely Review of Adriano Zumbo’s Patisserie in Balmain

It’s the day before Mother’s day, and I’ve been asked by hubby to choose an outing for the family. Of course it involves yummy food…. Patisseries! Heaven.

I narrowed the decision down to 4 prospective patisseries, and finally chose one – Victoire in Balmain. Unfortunately when we got to the address the bakery wasn’t there. It seems that they had moved, and I hadn’t done my homework correctly! So, rather than walk back to the car, bundle the kids in and find the new address, we changed our plans. Across the road in Balmain was the hole in the wall Adriano Zumbo patisserie. We’d been there before a couple of years earlier on his annual Macaron Day.

My Grandma’s Teacake Recipe is Quick, Easy and Uses Only Common Ingredients

Who else wants cake?

This teacake recipe was passed on to me by my beloved Grandma when I was much younger. She used to make this cake recipe in her home on the NSW Central Coast in Australia, and when I visited I used to help her. I’ve been making it ever since. What’s funny is that my mother (her daughter) has NEVER made it!

It’s very quick, easy and uses ingredients readily available in my pantry – sounds like a recipe right up my alley! As with most teacakes, it’s best eaten on the day of making.

The Whole Family Will Love This Passionfruit and Nectarine Tiramisu

Ok, I know a classic Tiramisu has coffee and marsala in it, but I wanted a dessert Tiramisu that was lighter and fruitier.

So I adapted this to suit a lunchtime dessert – to celebrate my little baby boy (who is growing up way too fast). ┬áIt went very fast, so I almost didn’t get a photo of this. Luckily my sisters-in-law reminded me, when they requested the recipe on the day.

I’m still a massive fan of a rich, coffee tiramisu – It happens to be one of my favourite desserts. This recipe, while still being quite rich, is made a fraction lighter by the use of fresh passionfruit.
