This Chocolate Chip Oat Bar Slice Is Perfect For Busy Parents

My eldest son has just started his first year at our local school. In the lead up, we organised lots of things – uniform, school shoes, bag and his lunchbox.

He had a few requirements when it came to choosing his lunchbox. First, it had to be blue. Secondly, it had to have a drink bottle. And third, it had to have lots of compartments. We found a suitable one at a local department store. It was perfect – especially as one of his friends had the same lunchbox.

Every morning, he likes to inspect his lunchbox before he heads off to school – just to see what treats I have included for the day’s breaks.

This chocolate chip oat bar slice is a perfect lunchbox treat. The oats contain a slow releasing energy which means they will keep you feeling fuller for longer. They are also perfect for busy parents, because they are simply a one bowl slice which takes no time to mix together. You gotta love that!

Mouth-Watering Apple Strudel That’s Low In Sugar

A dessert that isn’t too high in sugar content and my boys love (well, who doesn’t love dessert really?!)

My eldest helped me make this, and even took along some pictures and the recipe to his daycare for news day. His daycare was so great that they even made this with his classmates a few days later. All the kids got to help cut up the apples, smell the cinnamon and taste the apple mixture before it was baked. And dessert at daycare that day was….. apple strudel.

My kids love helping out in the kitchen. That they love the finished product is even better 🙂

Supremely Simple Easter Egg Choc-Chip Cookie Recipe

So you have leftover Easter eggs in the house, huh? You’re not alone! We have a box of them in the pantry that I’m slowly sharing with the kids. They are still small enough (at 1.5 yrs and 3.5yrs old) to ration them out to. They don’t even notice if one goes missing some nights when my cup of tea and belly are lonely.

My youngest son and I have just made some of my Ultimate Choc Chip Cookies with some of the left over Easter Eggs – the perfect way to use them up. You can find the recipe here.

Simply crumble the Easter Eggs in your clean hands, and add to the mixture instead of the chocolate chips.

How simple is that?

Awesome Choc Chip Cookies in 4 Easy Steps

Choc Chip Cookies are a subjective little thing – Some people like them crunchy, others prefer chewy cookies. Some will just eat the uncooked cookie dough if they get the chance.

Then there’s the chocolate – I prefer dark chocolate for its rich bitter taste. If you’re cooking for kids, you may prefer to use milk chocolate. Or why not use the trifecta – Dark, Milk and White Chocolates – to make Triple Choc Chip Cookies?

These choc-chip cookies are pretty awesome. They have a slight crunch around the edges, the centre is chewy and moist, and they also maintain a bit of their height during the cooking process. But I’m warning you now – They will not last long!
