Are whoopie pies the new cupcake?
Since they appeared on Masterchef, whoopie pies have been increasing in popularity here. It makes sense, seeing as the U.S. had a similar resurgence for whoopie pies. They are a cross between a cake and a biscuit, then sandwiched together with buttercream or ganache.
Whoopie pies are best eaten on the day of baking, but still ok the next day (That’s if there are any left!). And they really aren’t that difficult to prepare. I’ve noticed some packet mixes appearing on the shelves in the supermarket, but don’t be afraid to make them from scratch.
